Bank Holidays in Ireland – 2025


Ireland will have 10 bank holidays in 2025, offering great opportunities to extend your breaks.


  1. New Year’s Day – Wednesday, 1st January
  2. St. Brigid’s Day – Monday, 3rd February
  3. St. Patrick’s Day – Monday, 17th March
  4. Easter Monday – Monday, 21st April
  5. May Bank Holiday – Monday, 5th May
  6. June Bank Holiday – Monday, 2nd June
  7. August Bank Holiday – Monday, 4th August
  8. October Bank Holiday – Monday, 27th October
  9. Christmas Day – Thursday, 25th December
  10. St. Stephen’s Day – Friday, 26th December



How to Plan Your Annual Leave



By combining your annual leave days with weekends and bank holidays, you can enjoy extended breaks throughout the year. Here’s a month-by-month breakdown to help you plan:


  • January/February (St. Brigid’s Day):
    Take
    Friday, 31st January off to enjoy a 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • March (St. Patrick’s Day):
    Take
    Friday, 14th March off to create another 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • April (Easter):
    Take
    Tuesday, 22nd April to Friday, 25th April off for a 10-day holiday from Saturday, 19th April to Sunday, 27th April.


  • May (May Bank Holiday):
    Take
    Friday, 2nd May off for a 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • June (June Bank Holiday):
    Take
    Friday, 30th May off to enjoy another 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • August (August Bank Holiday):
    Take
    Friday, 1st August off for yet another 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • October (October Bank Holiday):
    Take
    Friday, 24th October off to create a 4-day break from Friday to Monday.


  • December (Christmas and New Year):
    Take
    Monday, 22nd, Tuesday, 23rd, Wednesday, 24th, Monday, 29th, Tuesday, 30th, and Wednesday, 31st December off to enjoy a 16-day holiday from Saturday, 20th December to Sunday, 4th January.

  • Check your organisation’s annual leave policies and approval process to avoid any surprises.


  • If you work part-time, your entitlement may differ based on the hours you work.
