FRS Recruitment are working with a well-established civil engineering contractor to recruit a Commercial Manager for their commercial team based in County Laois.
This is a senior appointment within the business, taking responsibility for the commercial performance of a broad portfolio of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the Midlands.
Working closely with senior management and project teams, the Commercial Manager will oversee projects from pre-construction through to final account, while providing commercial leadership and supporting the continued development of the wider commercial team.
Projects will include public realm developments, road improvement schemes, utility infrastructure, drainage works, earthworks, groundworks and commercial developments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Commercial Manager seeking a long-term position with a growing contractor and a strong pipeline of infrastructure works. Applications will also be considered from experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors who are ready to progress into a Commercial Manager position.
Responsibilities
- Lead commercial performance across multiple civil engineering projects.
- Oversee project budgets, forecasts, CVRs and financial reporting.
- Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and contractual documentation.
- Oversee valuations, variations, claims and final account agreements.
- Identify and manage commercial risks and project opportunities.
- Provide commercial guidance to project and management teams.
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
- Liaise with clients, consultants and public-sector stakeholders.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or similar.
- Seven years’ post-graduate commercial experience is preferred.
- Irish or UK civil engineering experience is required.
- Strong understanding of CVRs, forecasting and commercial reporting.
- Excellent knowledge of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
- Proven commercial leadership and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Chartered status or progress towards chartership highly desirable.
- Strong Senior Quantity Surveyors seeking progression will be considered.
Salary & Benefits
- €115,000–€130,000 base salary, depending on experience.
