Mill Operator / Production Operator

FRS Recruitment is hiring on behalf of a leading Irish agribusiness for a Mill Operator / Production Operator to join their busy feed mill operation in Kinsale. This position would suit someone with experience in production, manufacturing, agricultural processing, feed milling, or machinery operation who is mechanically minded and comfortable working with computerised production systems.

The Role

Reporting to the Production Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and consistent operation of the feed mill. You will be involved throughout the production process, from raw material intake and processing through to the production of finished animal feed.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor computerised production and process control systems.
• Manage batching, mixing, pelleting, and heat treatment processes.
• Monitor product quality, production targets, and plant performance.
• Manage the movement and storage of raw materials and finished products.
• Carry out routine plant inspections, cleaning, and basic maintenance activities.
• Identify, troubleshoot, and report mechanical or production issues.
• Maintain accurate production, quality, and cleaning records.
• Adhere to all health & safety, feed safety, quality assurance, and traceability procedures.
• Assist with manual handling and general production duties as required.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within the mill operation.

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience in feed milling, food production, agricultural processing, manufacturing, or a similar production environment.
• Experience operating computerised production or process control systems.
• Good mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance tasks.
• Strong awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility to work additional hours during peak seasonal periods.
• Forklift or loader experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
