Social Work Team Leader – Duty Child Protection

Location: North Dublin / Ballymun area
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: €68,217 – €78,687 per annum

FRS Recruitment is working with a leading statutory Child and Family Agency to recruit an experienced Social Work Team Leader to join their Duty Child Protection service in North Dublin.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Worker who is ready to take the next step in their career and take on a leadership position within a statutory child protection service.

The successful candidate will join an established Duty Child Protection team, providing professional leadership and support within a service focused on the safety, welfare and wellbeing of children and families.

About the Role

The Social Work Team Leader will play a key role in supporting the delivery of an effective, responsive and high-quality Duty Child Protection service.

Working within a child-centred and family-focused environment, you will provide professional leadership and guidance to Social Work staff, supporting effective decision-making and high standards of practice.

The role will suit an experienced Social Worker who has a strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding and is looking to develop their leadership career within a statutory setting.

You will have the opportunity to use your professional expertise while supporting colleagues in managing complex situations and contributing to positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities

As Social Work Team Leader, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing professional leadership, guidance and support to Social Work staff within the Duty Child Protection service.
  • Supporting Social Workers with professional decision-making and the management of complex child protection and welfare matters.
  • Promoting high standards of social work practice and ensuring a child-centred approach to service delivery.
  • Supporting effective assessment, risk management and case planning.
  • Providing advice and professional guidance to team members where required.
  • Supporting the effective management and allocation of work within the service.
  • Promoting good communication and collaborative working across the wider service.
  • Working effectively with colleagues and relevant external agencies involved in supporting children and families.
  • Contributing to service development, quality improvement and the ongoing development of professional practice.
  • Promoting a culture of reflective practice, learning and continuous professional development.
  • Supporting the delivery of a safe, effective and responsive child protection service.
  • Ensuring professional practice is carried out in line with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and professional standards.
  • Travel may be required as part of the role, therefore access to transport is desirable.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Social Work professional with a strong background in child protection and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and families.

You will ideally have experience working within a statutory or child protection environment and be confident providing professional guidance and support to colleagues.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Significant experience working as a Social Worker.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of child protection and safeguarding practice.
  • The ability to provide professional leadership and guidance to Social Work colleagues.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisational and case management abilities.
  • The ability to assess situations, manage risk and make sound professional decisions.
  • Confidence working with complex and sensitive cases.
  • The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment.
  • A commitment to high-quality, child-centred social work practice.
  • Strong resilience and the ability to work effectively within a demanding service environment.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Access to transport is desirable due to the requirements of the role.
