This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to an Engineer or Technician with a strong background in road surfacing and civil works. You will play a key part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard.
Key Responsibilities

Supervise day-to-day asphalt surfacing operations on live sites

Coordinate crews, subcontractors, and plant to meet programme targets

Ensure compliance with specifications, health & safety, and environmental requirements

Carry out site inspections, setting out, and quality control checks

Maintain accurate site records including progress, materials, and outputs
-
Liaise with clients, local authorities, and internal project teams
-
Implement and monitor traffic management plans

Support the Contracts Manager with planning, reporting, and resource allocation
-
Promote sustainable surfacing practices where applicable
Candidate Requirements

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar
-
Minimum 3 years’ experience in road surfacing or civil engineering projects
-
Previous supervisory or site-based leadership experience preferred

Strong knowledge of asphalt laying techniques and quality standards

Good understanding of Irish health & safety regulations
-
Safe Pass and Manual Handling (or willingness to obtain)

Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills
-
Ability to read drawings and carry out basic setting out
Desirable Experience

Experience working on local authority or public works contracts

Exposure to sustainable surfacing methods

Full, clean driving licence
