This is a hands-on supervisory role suited to an Engineer or Technician with a strong background in road surfacing and civil works. You will play a key part in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high quality standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise day-to-day asphalt surfacing operations on live sites

  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, and plant to meet programme targets

  • Ensure compliance with specifications, health & safety, and environmental requirements

  • Carry out site inspections, setting out, and quality control checks

  • Maintain accurate site records including progress, materials, and outputs

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, and internal project teams

  • Implement and monitor traffic management plans

  • Support the Contracts Manager with planning, reporting, and resource allocation

  • Promote sustainable surfacing practices where applicable

Candidate Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in road surfacing or civil engineering projects

  • Previous supervisory or site-based leadership experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of asphalt laying techniques and quality standards

  • Good understanding of Irish health & safety regulations

  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling (or willingness to obtain)

  • Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills

  • Ability to read drawings and carry out basic setting out

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working on local authority or public works contracts

  • Exposure to sustainable surfacing methods

  • Full, clean driving licence
