Job Title: Service Manager (Truck & Bus)

Role Overview
We are currently working on behalf of a leading commercial vehicle service operation to appoint an experienced Service Manager to lead a busy, high-performing workshop in the Naas area.
This is a key leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, delivering a premium customer experience, and ensuring strong commercial performance across the service department.
The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of technical knowledge, people leadership, and commercial awareness to ensure the workshop operates efficiently and consistently delivers on customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Plan and prioritise workshop workload to ensure efficient throughput and on-time delivery
- Ensure all work is completed in line with manufacturer standards and safety regulations
- Liaise closely with parts and service teams to minimise vehicle downtime
- Oversee workshop equipment maintenance, calibration, and compliance requirements
- Maximise labour efficiency and workshop productivity
- Manage warranty, job queries, quotations, and service administration workflows
- Investigate and resolve invoicing and credit control queries
- Monitor workshop performance and identify continuous improvement opportunities
- Support annual budgeting, cost control, and financial planning
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety and audit requirements
- Review and approve weekly payroll and overtime justification
Customer Experience
- Lead the Service Advisors to ensure a seamless customer journey from booking to vehicle return
- Manage escalations, complaints, and complex service issues professionally
- Build and maintain strong long-term customer relationships through clear communication and trust
Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, technicians, and service advisors
- Ensure all mandatory and manufacturer training is completed
- Conduct regular toolbox talks and performance reviews
- Promote a culture of accountability, quality, safety, and continuous improvement
- Provide clear direction and leadership to the service team
Financial & KPI Management
- Monitor key service KPIs including productivity, efficiency, billable hours, and customer satisfaction
- Manage departmental budgets and drive profitability
- Support service campaigns, upselling initiatives, and project/tender opportunities
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a truck, bus, or heavy commercial vehicle service environment
- Strong technical understanding of workshop operations (HGV/BUS advantageous)
- Previous experience in a Service Manager, Workshop Manager, or senior supervisory role
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and develop teams
- Commercially aware with strong KPI and financial understanding
- Excellent communication and customer relationship skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and calm under pressure
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Hands-on, practical management style with a focus on getting the job done
