Working closely with our client, a well-established and rapidly growing Irish main contractor, FRS Recruitment are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team in Galway City.

The successful candidate will initially be involved in the commercial delivery of a medium to large-scale residential development in Galway, with the new project due to commence shortly. The role is primarily office-based, with regular visits to site, offering the opportunity to work alongside an established commercial team while reporting directly to the Commercial Manager.

With a strong pipeline of secured projects across Galway and the West of Ireland, the company continues to deliver high-quality residential, commercial, education, healthcare, public works and heritage projects. This position offers genuine long-term career progression within an expanding business. As you become established in the role, you will have the opportunity to mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors while playing an increasingly important role within the commercial team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial delivery of residential and construction projects.
  • Prepare valuations, variations, cost reports and final accounts.
  • Administer contracts including PWC and RIAI forms of contract.
  • Manage subcontractor procurement, payments and final accounts.
  • Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial reporting.
  • Work closely with site management to achieve commercial objectives.
  • Mentor and support junior Quantity Surveyors across the team.
  • Assist with commercial strategy and continuous process improvement.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years' Quantity Surveying experience with a Main Contractor or Developer, ideally in Ireland/UK.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish construction contracts and procurement.
  • Experience managing subcontractor accounts and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent understanding of cost control and financial management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; Cubit, Procore and Asta experience advantageous.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and leadership skills.
