The Senior Accountant will play a key role in maintaining high‑quality financial operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting the development of effective controls and management reporting structures. This position requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and an ability to work cross‑functionally within a dynamic healthcare environment.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Financial Controller and may deputise as required. This is a fully on‑site role based in Waterford City.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Prepare, review, and present monthly management accounts.
  • Complete and maintain all balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain and enhance the Fixed Asset Register, including depreciation and related adjustments.
  • Manage stock accounting processes.
  • Support sales accounting activities in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Lead and coordinate year‑end processes, including external audit preparation and auditor liaison.
  • Conduct regular nominal ledger reviews to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Support and work closely with Credit Control on relevant financial processes.
  • Manage the performance calculations process and ensure accurate reporting.

Operational & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Address day‑to‑day financial queries and support the Head of Finance with operational tasks and project work.
  • Partner with clinic teams to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Lead projects and initiatives that enhance efficiency and strengthen financial controls.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of financial systems, reporting tools, and internal workflows.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 4+ years post‑qualification experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Previous experience in the healthcare sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting software and MS Office.
  • Proven experience using Power BI for financial reporting and analysis.
