SCADA Engineer

We're seeking a motivated SCADA Engineer to join our growing team. Ideal for an Electrical, Automation, Computer or SCADA Engineer with strong technical skills, sharp problem-solving ability, and an eye for system design. You'll gain exposure to SCADA, telemetry, PLC integration and instrumentation technologies, playing a key role across the design, configuration, testing, deployment and support of SCADA solutions. Automation experience — particularly with Bristol Babcock PLCs — is a plus.
This is a predominantly office-based role with occasional site visits for deployment, commissioning and support. You'll work primarily with SCADA platforms Ignition and ICONICS, supporting integration with PLCs, RTUs, telemetry outstations and client systems, while maintaining regular client communication and troubleshooting support. We're looking for someone innovative, willing to challenge existing processes and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pre-sales and design of new SCADA solutions
- Respond to client requests, incidents and support events
- Collaborate on implementation, testing and support of HMI, SCADA, PLC and telemetry software
- Produce design specs, configuration documentation and project records
- Configure, develop, test and support applications on Ignition and ICONICS
- Deliver post-implementation client training
- Manage project files, licensing and documentation
- Liaise with client IT on security and system requirements
- Build reusable libraries to improve delivery efficiency
- Contribute to estimates, work breakdown structures and delivery plans
Essential Requirements
- Strong grasp of SCADA architecture and components
- Experience with Ignition and/or ICONICS
- Cloud experience (Azure, AWS or similar)
- Knowledge of Modbus, DNP3, OPC and other SCADA protocols
- Experience with telemetry, HMI configuration and industrial communications
- Ability to interpret PLC/RTU/telemetry interfaces
- Microsoft SQL database knowledge
- Familiarity with remote support tools (RDP, TeamViewer)
- Understanding of Ethernet/TCP/IP networking
- Awareness of industrial cybersecurity practices
- SCADA alarm/notification design experience
- Full Irish driving licence, with flexibility to travel
Desirable
- PLC programming, especially Bristol Babcock
- AI, data science or statistical analysis experience
- VB/SQL development skills
