The Refrigeration Engineer will support the design, development, testing, and production readiness of cooling products. The position combines technical design work with prototype testing, cross‑functional collaboration, and occasional site support.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Support refrigeration component selection, piping layout, prototype builds, and testing for cooling products used in telecoms and edge computing applications
  • Assist in the design and selection of line components and piping to ensure correct and efficient operation of refrigeration circuits
  • Test and evaluate functional performance of products, iterating designs to improve performance and reliability
  • Capacity test prototype units using temporary test rigs with known thermal loads to validate cooling performance
  • Support the transition of existing products to low‑GWP refrigerants, ensuring compliance with current and future F‑Gas regulations
  • Work closely with the controls team to test equipment under various operating conditions, ensuring safe and correct software functionality
  • Provide applications support to the sales team, including predicted energy performance analysis for free cooling and mechanical cooling solutions across different operating and climatic conditions
  • Assist with the preparation of technical documentation such as datasheets, product literature, and instruction manuals
  • Define and document refrigeration requirements to ensure products are fully production‑ready
  • Ensure accurate design release documentation, revision control, and materials information are available to support purchasing and production
  • Support production teams at end‑of‑line testing, ensuring quality checks adequately address refrigeration requirements
  • Work with production personnel to ensure compliance with refrigerant handling and F‑Gas procedures
  • Provide site‑based troubleshooting and repair support on a case‑by‑case basis, in collaboration with customers
  • Prepare site method statements, risk assessments, and service reports as required

Skills & Experience;

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Refrigeration, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Experience working with refrigeration systems, cooling equipment, or HVAC technologies
  • Strong understanding of refrigeration components, piping design, and system performance
  • Hands‑on experience with prototype testing, fault finding, and performance validation
  • Knowledge of F‑Gas regulations and low‑GWP refrigerants is highly desirable
  • Ability to work collaboratively with controls, production, sales, and customer teams
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and organisational skills
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site support and customer interaction
