Project Engineer Manufacturing (Food Industry)
About the Role
Our client, based in Kildare, a leading organisation in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Process Optimisation Project Engineer to join their senior leadership team. This is a high‑impact role suited to a hands-on change leader with deep technical expertise in process optimisation, operational excellence, and capacity improvement.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead major strategic initiatives to enhance production performance, eliminate bottlenecks, develop scalable processes, and support long-term growth plans—including new facility development and capital expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Process Evaluation & Improvement
- Identify and document process inefficiencies and growth barriers across production lines.
- Develop and analyse comprehensive process maps with clear improvement plans.
- Recommend capital investment opportunities based on operational constraints and growth potential.
Process Design & Development
- Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to design scalable, future-ready manufacturing processes.
- Lead the development and implementation of new manufacturing facilities and expansion projects.
Capacity Management & Optimisation
- Analyse capacity constraints across multiple production technologies.
- Improve throughput, reduce waste and enhance production yield.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to drive performance.
Continuous Improvement Leadership
- Promote and embed a culture of continuous improvement across all operational teams.
- Implement measurable enhancements aligned with company KPIs.
Project Management
- Lead end-to-end delivery of process improvement and site expansion projects.
- Manage budgets, timelines, resources, and cross-functional project teams.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
- Partner effectively with Operations, Engineering, R&D and senior leadership.
- Communicate key process changes, project updates and improvement outcomes clearly.
Training & CapEx Leadership
- Support staff upskilling in new processes, technologies and systems.
- Lead CapEx initiatives, ensuring financial discipline and strong business case development.
About You
- 3–5+ years’ experience in a senior process engineering or manufacturing operations role (food industry preferred).
- Expert in CAD
- Strong background in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and continuous improvement.
- Skilled in process mapping, root cause analysis and hands-on project delivery.
- Proven ability to influence, lead and challenge stakeholders constructively.
- Strong analytical, leadership and communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive, practical approach to change management.
