My client, a leading manufacturer based in Shannon, Co. Clare, is looking to recruit an experienced Production Planner to join their busy and growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a planning professional to take responsibility for the day-to-day production schedule within a specialist manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Head of Production, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring production plans are delivered efficiently, customer requirements are met, and materials and resources are available when needed.

The Role

The Production Planner will be responsible for developing and maintaining the production schedule, balancing workloads and capacity while responding proactively to changing customer requirements, production priorities and operational constraints.

Working closely with teams across the business, including Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse, Quality and Production, you will help ensure the smooth flow of materials and products through the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain production schedules using an ERP system, ensuring customer requirements and operational priorities are met.
  • Plan and balance production workloads to maximise capacity, efficiency and on-time delivery.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, resource constraints or machine downtime.
  • Work closely with Customer Service to align production plans with customer delivery requirements.
  • Liaise with Purchasing and Warehouse to ensure materials are available to support the production schedule.
  • Coordinate with Quality and Incoming Inspection to prioritise critical materials required for production.
  • Monitor Work in Progress (WIP), identifying potential bottlenecks and taking action to minimise delays.
  • Track outsourced processing activities and ensure supplier commitments align with production requirements.
  • Monitor production performance against schedule and highlight risks, constraints and opportunities for improvement.
  • Use ERP system data to support effective planning, decision-making and continuous improvement.

Requirements for the desired Production Planner include:

  • Previous experience in production planning, supply chain or a similar operations role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing competing priorities.
  • Experience using an ERP system; Oracle/Oracle Access ERP experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to respond quickly to changing production requirements.

If you feel that you fulfil the above requirements please apply today with your CV. If you have any queries please contact Rachael Pando of FRS Recruitment.
