Our client, a leading manufacturer of heavy equipment, is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter / Heavy Plant Mechanic to join their team in Co. Laois.
This is a full-time, workshop-based role focused on the mechanical assembly, fitting and commissioning of heavy plant and equipment, with a strong emphasis on hydraulic systems.
The role would suit candidates from plant, agricultural, quarry, construction or heavy engineering backgrounds who have strong hands-on mechanical and hydraulic experience. Full training will be provided on company-specific equipment and systems.
What You Will Do
- Carry out mechanical fitting and assembly of heavy plant and equipment
- Install and connect hydraulic systems, components and pipework
- Read and interpret hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Carry out hydraulic plumbing and system installation
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults
- Assist with the testing and commissioning of completed equipment
- Operate overhead cranes, forklifts and hand tools
- Ensure all work meets required Health & Safety and quality standards
- Work independently and as part of a skilled production team
What We Are Looking For
- Experience as a Plant Fitter, Plant Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Mechanical Fitter, Hydraulic Fitter, Agri Mechanic or similar
- Strong hands-on mechanical fitting and maintenance experience
- Good practical knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Experience working with heavy plant or machinery
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, hydraulic and electrical schematics
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Good attention to detail and a strong work ethic
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
