We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Part-Time Accounts Assistant to support the finance function and ensure the smooth running of day-to-day accounting operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or Accounting Technician looking for a flexible role that offers a strong work-life balance and hybrid working options.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Process purchase invoices, including matching, coding, and data entry into the accounting system.
- Prepare supplier payment runs for approval on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate any discrepancies.
- Generate and issue accurate customer invoices.
- Manage credit control activities and follow up on outstanding balances by phone and email.
Financial Record Keeping & Banking
- Perform regular bank reconciliations and ensure transactions are accurately recorded.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support the integrity of accounting data.
Administrative & Finance Support
- Organise and maintain digital and physical finance records.
- Act as a first point of contact for supplier and customer account queries.
- Assist with month-end processes and provide support to the wider finance team as required.
Candidate Requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in an Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeping, or similar finance role.
- Accounting Technician qualification or a Business/Finance-related qualification is advantageous but not essential.
- Previous experience working in a SME environment would be beneficial.
Technical Skills
- Experience using Xero
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including data entry, sorting, formatting, and basic formulas.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail.

- Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
- Excellent communication skills with a professional and customer-focused approach.
- Reliable, proactive, and capable of maintaining confidentiality when handling financial information.
