NPD Technologist
Job Overview
My client, one of the Midlands' leading food production companies, is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented NPD Technologist to join its growing team. This role will play a key part in supporting the New Product Development function, managing samples, responding to customer requests, and assisting with the development of innovative products from concept through to launch.
Working closely with the NPD and Technical teams, you will help develop recipes, coordinate trials, maintain product documentation, and ensure projects are delivered on time and to the highest standards.
Key Duties
- Support the end-to-end product development process, from concept to post-launch review.
- Prepare product samples, recipes, processing instructions, and technical documentation.
- Evaluate and test new ingredients, packaging, suppliers, and products.
- Assist with factory trials, process scale-ups, shelf-life studies, and sensory evaluations.
- Conduct risk assessments on new raw materials and packaging in line with HACCP requirements.
- Support ingredient sourcing, quality analysis, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders throughout development projects.
- Manage sample requests, stock control, and presentation requirements for customers and the sales team.
- Ensure project milestones and critical development timelines are achieved.
- Support responses to customer queries relating to new product development.
What We Need From You
- Third-level qualification in Food Science, Culinary Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar NPD or food product development role.
- A genuine passion for food, innovation, and product development.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Good understanding of quality systems, traceability, food safety, and labelling requirements.
