The Opportunity
We’re looking for an experienced Network / Infrastructure Engineer to join a public-sector organisation in Dublin on an initial 9-month contract, with potential extension.
This is a broad role covering enterprise networking, infrastructure and Microsoft Azure, across both on-premises and cloud environments.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold EU Citizenship, Stamp 4, or an eligible Stamp 1G Spousal Visa. Stamp 1G Graduate Visa holders are not eligible.
What You'll Be Doing
Azure
- Azure infrastructure administration and architecture
- Azure networking, including VNets, Hub-Spoke, VPN/ExpressRoute
- Azure Backup, recovery, monitoring and security
- Hybrid cloud connectivity and troubleshooting
Networking
- Enterprise LAN/WAN, routing and switching
- Firewalls, VPNs and network security
- Network monitoring, troubleshooting, resilience and capacity
- Working with third-party providers
Infrastructure
- VMware and Windows Server administration
- Active Directory (Entra ID advantageous)
- Virtualisation, DNS/DHCP and storage
- Backup, recovery and infrastructure monitoring
- Complex infrastructure troubleshooting
Security & Resilience
- Security hardening, patching and vulnerability remediation
- Identifying infrastructure risks and single points of failure
- Disaster recovery and business continuity
- Supporting infrastructure improvements and technical projects
Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Infrastructure and architecture documentation
- Operational runbooks and recovery procedures
- Knowledge-transfer sessions with the ICT team
- Effective handover at the end of the engagement
- Reducing reliance on individual infrastructure specialists
What We're Looking For
At least 5 years' relevant infrastructure engineering or network support experience, ideally within a complex enterprise environment.
Strong experience across Azure, enterprise networking, routing/switching, firewalls, Windows Server, VMware, Active Directory, hybrid cloud, backup/DR, security, monitoring, incident/change management, documentation and knowledge transfer .
Desirable: Azure Arc, Azure Site Recovery, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, PowerShell, automation, Azure Monitor, Microsoft 365, ITIL, public-sector/regulated environments or NIS2.
