The Role
My client, a very well established insurer is seeking an experienced Motor Claims Handler to join their team. This is a full time, permanent, hybrid position based in Dublin South.
As the Motor Claims Handler, you will be responsible for handling and settling claims from notification through to closure, working within agreed authority limits and service standards to deliver the best outcome for both the customer and the business.
Tasks & Duties
- Manage policy indemnity and liability issues, bringing each claim to a fair, satisfactory conclusion for both customer and the business.
- Establish and maintain adequate claims reserves in line with prudent reserving policy.
- Apply best-practice handling: strong attention to detail, independent decision-making, and proactive investigation - settling via the most cost-effective channel and improving the FNOL process to deliver a premium customer and employee experience.
- Authorise claims payments within agreed authority levels.
- Provide technical advice to customers, loss adjusters, and solicitors on claims and next steps.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including CPC, CICA, and Data Protection requirements.
- Work proactively to meet personal and team objectives, reflecting the Claims Department's customer-centric approach.
- Take part in project work and ongoing training, and help identify training needs across the team.
Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
- Ideally a Qualified Certified Insurance Practitioner (CIP) in General Insurance or fully APA qualified at a minimum.
- Minimum of two years' claims handling experience, ideally within motor damage claims.
- Strong interpersonal, numerical, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Proven ability to drive results and adapt to innovation and change.
- Strong planning, co-ordination, and organisational skills.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- High standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Strong team player with team-building capability.
