Key Responsibilities:

Deliver nursing care in accordance with the professional code of practice set by An Bord Altranais/NMBI and organisational policies and procedures.

Ensure the safe management, accurate documentation, and administration of medication in line with established protocols.

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate personalised care plans addressing patients’ physical, psychological, social, spiritual, and vocational needs.
-
Promote a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach to care through coordination with other healthcare professionals.
-
Contribute to clinical induction, training, and educational programmes for support staff.
-
Maintain comprehensive and accurate patient care records.
-
Adhere to the defined lines of authority within the nursing management structure.

Assume responsibility for unit management in the absence of the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Work as an effective team member, appropriately delegating duties to colleagues.

Demonstrate initiative, motivation, and commitment to ongoing professional development.

Foster positive working relationships with patients, families, visitors, and colleagues.

Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring they receive appropriate information and support regarding care needs.

Contribute to the development of professional standards and participate in auditing and evaluating care delivery.

Support staff rostering to ensure efficient and effective use of nursing resources.
Essential Requirements:
-
Registered Psychiatric Nurse with NMBI, or General Nurse with relevant psychiatric experience (mandatory).
-
Post-registration experience in adult mental health services, rehabilitation mental health services, or community-based mental health services (mandatory).

Proven clinical experience in mental health rehabilitation and working with individuals with serious and enduring mental illness.
-
Strong clinical, managerial, and administrative competence, with high professional standards.
-
In-depth knowledge of Mental Health Commission standards and requirements.

Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical teams and a strong understanding of clinical governance principles.
-
Demonstrated ability to lead, educate, supervise, and support student nurses and healthcare staff.
-
Knowledge and experience of health and safety legislation and other relevant statutory regulations in healthcare.
-
Evidence of ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
