MECHANICAL FITTER – FOOD MANUFACTURING

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a well-established food manufacturing operation.

This is a days-only, Monday to Friday role, offering a strong salary and the opportunity to work in a modern production environment with a stable and experienced engineering team.

THE ROLE

You will be responsible for keeping production equipment operating safely and efficiently, carrying out both reactive and preventative maintenance across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting and repairing production equipment breakdowns.
• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
• Working across mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and vacuum systems.
• Monitoring and inspecting plant and equipment.
• Working with pumps and pipework.
• Diagnosing pneumatic faults and working with pneumatic control circuits.
• Supporting general maintenance, welding and fabrication.
• Working closely with production and engineering colleagues to minimise downtime.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Qualified / experienced Mechanical Fitter.
• Strong mechanical maintenance experience, ideally within food, manufacturing or FMCG.
• Good knowledge of pumps, pipework and pneumatics.
• Hydraulic and vacuum experience an advantage.
• Basic electrical knowledge would be beneficial but is not essential.
• Welding/fabrication skills an advantage.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible when occasional out-of-hours support is required.

LOCATION

The role is commutable from Thurles, Templemore, Nenagh, Birr, Moneygall, Portlaoise, Urlingford and surrounding areas.
