The Role
As Mechanical Estimator, you will:
- Prepare detailed mechanical estimates from drawings and specifications.
- Produce accurate quantity take-offs and pricing documentation.
- Obtain and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- Compare tender returns and provide clear recommendations.
- Assist in maintaining cost databases and estimating records.
- Present estimates to senior management when required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants.
- Work closely with CSA and Electrical Estimators to deliver coordinated tender submissions.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating function.
- Identify project risks and ensure high-quality tender documentation throughout the bid process.
About You
To be successful, you will have:
- 4+ years' experience in a mechanical estimating or quantity surveying role.
- A strong mechanical services background.
- Experience preparing estimates within the construction or building services sector.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and estimating software such as CostX, Buildsoft or similar.
- Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
- The ability to identify project risks and opportunities.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge of FIDIC contracts would be an advantage.
