Mechanical Design Engineer | Galway
My client a leading Irish manufacturer are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly innovative R&D environment, where you'll work on the design and development of new products from concept through to manufacture. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and play a key role in bringing innovative engineering solutions to market.
The Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will:
- Design and develop new products within a busy R&D team.
- Produce 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings.
- Build prototypes and carry out laboratory and field testing.
- Analyse test results and prepare technical reports.
- Work closely with electrical and software engineers to integrate control systems.
- Take products through the full mechanical design process, from concept to production.
- Participate in technical design reviews and continuous improvement projects.
- Manage project timelines and maintain engineering documentation in line with ISO 9001 standards.
About You
You'll ideally have:
- A Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a mechanical design or product development role.
- Strong 3D CAD experience using Creo, SolidWorks or similar.
- A good understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM).
- Experience carrying out root cause analysis and structured problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a collaborative engineering team.
Experience with DFMEA, project management or high volume manufacturing would be advantageous.
