Junior Quantity Surveyor – Westport

An established and growing construction company is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join its commercial team on a major construction project in Westport, Co. Mayo.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Junior Quantity Surveyor to develop their career within a supportive commercial team, gaining hands-on experience across all aspects of construction cost management.

Working closely with an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Director, you will receive guidance and mentoring, with a clear pathway for career progression.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the commercial and contractual management of the project.
• Support the preparation of project budgets, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
• Measure and value subcontractor works.
• Assist with interim valuations and payment applications.
• Support subcontractor procurement, tendering and negotiations.
• Assist in assessing variations, change orders and final accounts.
• Monitor project costs and help identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Contribute to monthly commercial reports and cost forecasts.
• Liaise with project managers, site teams, clients and design teams.
• Maintain accurate commercial and contractual documentation.
• Support the successful delivery of projects within budget, programme and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally 1–3 years.
• Graduate Quantity Surveyors with relevant placement or industry experience will also be considered.
• Exposure to residential, commercial, healthcare, education or industrial construction projects is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
• Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication, organisational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with commercial management software is an advantage.
• Previous experience or placement on construction projects in Ireland is desirable.
