Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager

Reporting to the Factory Manager, this role is responsible for leading all Environmental, Health and Safety activities across operations in Ireland.

Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety Manager to take full ownership of EHS strategy, compliance, and performance across multiple sites. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in embedding a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and driving continuous improvement initiatives aligned with best practice standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Environmental, Health & Safety Manager will lead and manage all EHS activities across Irish operations while maintaining and enhancing the internal safety management systems. The role involves ensuring full compliance with environmental licences, ISO14001 standards, and all applicable legislation. The successful candidate will provide expert guidance and support to both management and employees while actively promoting a proactive Zero Harm culture.
  • The position requires regular participation in operational meetings to communicate EHS performance, updates, and risks. Responsibilities include developing, implementing, and reviewing health and safety policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring effective control measures are in place. The role also involves leading accident investigations, implementing corrective actions, and delivering and coordinating EHS training programmes such as manual handling, first aid, and employee inductions, while maintaining accurate training records.
  • Additional duties include updating the company Safety Statement, chairing safety committee meetings, managing fire safety systems and registers, and overseeing PPE and chemical databases. The EHS Manager will also be responsible for leading and developing EHS team members, carrying out environmental monitoring, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
  • The role requires ongoing liaison with regulatory bodies and ensuring all reporting obligations are met. Managing site waste compliance, conducting internal audits, maintaining detailed records, and working closely with operations teams to ensure compliance and continuous improvement are also essential aspects of the role. Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet business needs.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Safety or a related field, with at least four years of experience in an EHS role, preferably within a manufacturing environment. A strong understanding of safety and environmental management systems is essential, along with experience engaging with regulatory authorities such as the HSA, EPA, and IPPC licensing bodies. Knowledge of COMAH and ATEX processes would be advantageous.

Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership abilities with experience managing and motivating teams. Excellent organisational, administrative, and communication skills are required, along with a proactive and self-motivated approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
