Role Overview
We are currently recruiting a Health and Safety Officer to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to support and drive health and safety standards across the organisation.
The successful candidate will provide practical guidance and support to the Health and Safety Manager and onsite leadership team. The role focuses on proactively identifying risks while promoting and driving continuous improvement initiatives. You will also play a key role in fostering and maintaining a positive safety culture throughout the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety Manager and leadership team to ensure best practices are consistently achieved and maintained
  • Drive and support a proactive safety culture, reinforcing shared responsibility for safety at all levels
  • Assist in incident investigations, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
  • Lead and support the development, review, and implementation of risk assessments
  • Conduct daily safety inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with procedures, legislation, and standards
  • Identify non-conformances and ensure timely follow-up and resolution
  • Support fire drills and emergency response planning as part of the site fire team
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining the safety committee
  • Deliver site inductions for employees and visitors
  • Prepare monthly reports and updates, ensuring accuracy and timely communication
  • Track and follow up on action items from meetings to ensure closure
  • Coordinate and support meetings, including agenda preparation and minute-taking
  • Maintain and develop Toolbox Talk plans and ensure delivery
  • Manage ISO 45001-related documentation, ensuring audit readiness and compliance
  • Support preparation for ISO audits, including document control and evidence gathering
  • Maintain training records and competency matrices, identifying gaps and ensuring compliance
  • Undertake additional tasks as required by management

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

  • Third-level qualification in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Health & Safety Officer role, ideally within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and ISO standards including ISO 45001
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organisational and critical thinking abilities
  • Proven ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
