A leading organisation in the public sector industry is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Planning and Reporting Analyst to support strategic planning, financial oversight, and performance reporting across nationwide operations.

This position plays a key role in financial governance, sustainability reporting, product allocation, and audit management. Reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Product Allocation & Financial Planning, you will be responsible for delivering accurate analysis, supporting regulatory compliance, and ensuring financial processes operate effectively and transparently.

Key Responsibilities

Product Allocation & Profitability

  • Assist with periodic product allocation reporting.
  • Support regular reviews of allocation processes for accuracy and appropriateness.
  • Provide backup for periodic, forecast, and budget route profitability reporting.

Audit & Compliance Management

  • Coordinate annual audit schedules with external auditors and communicate timelines internally.
  • Ensure documentation requests and audit queries are managed promptly and accurately.
  • Assist with scheduling and attending audit meetings with the PSO Controller.
  • Provide regular audit status updates to management and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare periodic and quarterly updates on PSO audits for external authorities.
  • Ensure timely completion of all external stakeholder audits.
  • Track and follow up on outstanding audit actions.
  • Prepare ad‑hoc audit reports for the CFO.

Regulatory & Sustainability Reporting

  • Support compliance and reporting requirements for EU Taxonomy and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
  • Assist with financial analysis related to sustainability initiatives and expenditure.
  • Contribute to statutory CSRD reporting in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Report on PSO Schedule 7 compliance, financial impacts, and potential funding gaps.
  • Support ongoing review of compliance with public transport contract schedules.

Financial Operations & Risk Management

  • Manage PSO DAC marketing funding, monitoring budgets and variance analysis in partnership with Commercial & PR teams.
  • Assist in the management of the CFO Risk Register, ensuring risks are clearly defined, monitored, and actioned.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support senior leadership decision-making.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years' post‑qualification experience (PQE).
  • Strong background in audit, financial reporting, and business partnering.
  • Experience working in multi‑entity or multi‑product organisations.
  • Proficiency with Cognos or similar analytics/reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to strict reporting deadlines.
  • Skilled in coordinating audits, managing documentation requests, and engaging with auditors.
  • Strong understanding of PSO contract requirements, sustainability reporting (CSRD), and EU Taxonomy obligations.
  • Experience preparing detailed reporting for external authorities and senior leadership.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and influence stakeholders.
