A well-established and growing organisation in Roscrea are recruiting a Financial Accountant working hybrid for an 18-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Qualified and commercially minded finance professional to step into a senior finance position with broad responsibility across financial reporting, payroll oversight, statutory compliance, budgeting, forecasting, and business partnering.

Reporting directly to the Group Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting strategic decision-making while leading a busy finance and payroll function.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including detailed profit and loss and balance sheet analysis.
  • Produce monthly consolidated reports and sector-specific reporting.
  • Prepare quarterly board reports and presentations.
  • Lead annual budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes.
  • Analyse financial performance and provide meaningful commercial insights to support decision-making.
  • Review financial reconciliations and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.

Payroll Oversight

  • Oversee weekly and monthly payroll operations across the business.
  • Review and approve payroll bank files and related submissions.
  • Ensure payroll compliance, accuracy and timely processing.
  • Review payroll reconciliations and holiday pay accruals.
  • Support payroll-related queries and process improvements.

Tax, Compliance & Audit

  • Manage VAT, PAYE and other statutory reporting obligations.
  • Oversee VIES returns and Revenue compliance requirements.
  • Support corporation tax reviews and compliance processes.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of the annual statutory audit.
  • Complete and oversee Gender Pay Gap reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and payroll legislation.

Business Partnering

  • Act as a trusted adviser to the Senior Management Team and General Manager.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to operational stakeholders.
  • Liaise with external auditors, Revenue, software providers and other key business partners.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across finance and payroll systems.

Team Leadership

  • Lead and support the Finance and Payroll team.
  • Promote a culture of accuracy, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and financial governance processes.
  • Effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines while supporting team development.

About You

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with complex financial data.
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to translate financial information into actionable insights.
  • Experience with VAT, PAYE, corporation tax compliance and statutory reporting.
  • Experience managing or supporting annual statutory audits.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and employment-related reporting requirements.

Desirable

  • Experience overseeing a high-volume payroll function.
  • Experience working with systems such as Quantum Payroll, Microsoft Dynamics, Glantus or similar reporting and finance platforms.
