Finance Administrator

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Administrator will provide essential support across the day-to-day financial operations of Aoibhneas. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of financial administration activities, including transaction processing, reconciliations, record maintenance and general finance support.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to contribute to the effective running of the organisation’s finance function.

Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet the needs of the organisation and support the efficient operation of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update accurate financial records using Sage accounting software.
  • Process accounts payable transactions and complete supplier reconciliations.
  • Prepare and monitor payment schedules, ensuring suppliers are paid accurately and on time.
  • Record receipts and banking transactions and reconcile these against bank statements.
  • Process receipts across various income channels, complete reconciliations and prepare relevant control accounts.
  • Reconcile and post petty cash transactions.
  • Assist with employee expense tracking, verification and processing.
  • Support month-end financial procedures, including reconciliations and journal postings.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and ad hoc financial reports as required.
  • Provide general administrative support to the finance function.
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by the Financial Controller.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • Third-level qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of one year’s relevant experience in a finance, accounts, bookkeeping or administrative role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, financial processes and accurate financial record-keeping.
  • Previous experience in accounts payable, supplier reconciliations and processing financial transactions.
  • Experience handling confidential information and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Excellent organisational skills with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and manage competing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise professionally with suppliers, colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Strong administration and time-management skills.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.

  • Experience working with financial systems and databases.
  • Experience preparing financial reports and reconciliations.
  • Previous experience within the not-for-profit or charity sector.
  • Full driving licence.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability.
