An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the electrical engineering and maintenance function across a busy industrial manufacturing site. Reporting to the Plant Engineer, you will have overall responsibility for the site's electrical infrastructure, including MV and LV systems up to 10kV, while leading a high-performing team of electrical engineers, technicians and specialist contractors.
This is a strategic leadership role, combining people management, engineering excellence, project delivery and regulatory compliance to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and manage the site's Electrical Engineering team, fostering a culture of safety, performance and continuous improvement.
- Provide strategic direction for all electrical maintenance activities, ensuring maximum plant reliability and availability.
- Act as the Site Electrical Duty Holder, ensuring full compliance with electrical safety legislation, standards and company procedures.
- Manage all MV & LV electrical infrastructure, including planned maintenance, upgrades, asset management and statutory inspections.
- Oversee HV switching operations, authorisation procedures and safe systems of work.
- Develop and implement electrical engineering strategies to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime and optimise maintenance performance.
- Lead capital investment, energy efficiency and decarbonisation projects from concept through design, installation and commissioning.
- Manage external contractors and specialist service providers, ensuring work is completed safely, on time and within budget.
- Maintain all critical electrical documentation, including protection coordination studies, arc flash assessments, single line diagrams and asset records.
- Support operational excellence initiatives by driving continuous improvement, root cause analysis and engineering best practice.
- Manage departmental budgets, resource planning and long-term electrical asset investment.
Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (Level 8 or equivalent).
- Minimum 10 year's experience within a manufacturing, process or heavy industrial environment.
- Proven experience managing electrical engineering teams within an industrial setting.
- Strong technical knowledge of MV/HV and LV electrical systems, power distribution, protection systems and electrical compliance.
- Experience with PLCs, variable speed drives, industrial control systems and CMMS maintenance systems.
- Demonstrated experience delivering electrical engineering projects and managing contractors.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, risk management and continuous improvement methodologies.
