EHS Manager (Environment, Health & Safety)

Our client, a leading civil engineering group is seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead Environmental, Health & Safety activities.
This is a key leadership position offering the opportunity to drive EHS strategy, enhance compliance standards, and foster a positive culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement throughout the organisation.
The Role
Reporting to senior management, the EHS Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of Environmental, Health & Safety performance . The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring legal compliance, managing risk, maintaining management system certifications, and promoting best practice across all areas of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable EHS legislation, regulations, permits, and industry best practices.
- Drive a proactive safety culture through visible leadership, employee engagement, coaching, and training initiatives.
- Oversee risk assessments, safe systems of work, and hazard identification programmes.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and compliance reviews across operational sites.
- Lead investigations into incidents, accidents, environmental events, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective and preventative actions are implemented.
- Monitor EHS performance metrics and provide regular reports and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Support operational management teams in achieving EHS objectives and maintaining high standards of compliance.
- Act as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities, external auditors, certification bodies, and other key stakeholders.
- Support and maintain accredited management systems, including ISO 45001, while contributing to broader environmental management initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement programmes that enhance operational performance and reduce risk.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in a senior EHS, Health & Safety, or SHEQ management role.
- Strong knowledge of Irish Environmental, Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience working within construction, quarrying, manufacturing, engineering, infrastructure, or similarly regulated industries.
- Demonstrated success managing EHS functions across multiple sites or business units.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Experience managing audits, compliance programmes, and management system certifications.
- A practical, solutions focused approach combined with strong analytical and organisational skills.
- Relevant Environmental and/or Health & Safety qualifications and professional certifications.
- Experience with ISO 45001 management systems is highly desirable.
