Design Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Design Engineer to join a growing product development team within an established international manufacturer. The company designs and develops innovative livestock comfort products which are sold in more than 60 countries worldwide.

This role would suit a Design Engineer with one to two years’ experience or a strong engineering graduate looking to develop their career in product design and innovation.

The successful candidate will be involved in the full design lifecycle, taking products from initial concept through design, prototyping and production. You will work closely with colleagues across the business to develop new products and improve the existing product range.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new and existing products from concept through to production.
  • Produce detailed part designs, assemblies and engineering drawings.
  • Apply design for manufacture principles throughout the development process.
  • Support prototype development, testing and design validation.
  • Maintain technical documentation, product specifications and manuals.
  • Work collaboratively with production and other departments throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities for product improvements and develop practical, innovative solutions.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in an organised and timely manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, Electronic Design or a related discipline.
  • Up to two years’ experience in a design or product development role. Applications are also welcome from suitably qualified graduates.
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software, such as Autodesk Inventor, Altium or Python, depending on discipline.
  • Knowledge of part design, product design, assemblies, engineering drawings and design for manufacture.
  • Strong understanding of engineering design principles and methodologies.
  • An interest in practical product development, particularly products used within agricultural, mechanical or outdoor working environments, would be an advantage.
  • Experience with machine design or automation would be beneficial but is not essential.
  • Experience preparing technical documentation, manuals, specifications or project plans would also be an advantage.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful, growing business and gain hands-on experience across the complete product development process.
