Overview of the Role

I am recruiting for one of my biggest clients for an experienced Oncology Nurse to join a high-performing nursing team delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

This role involves working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting innovation in clinical practice, delivering evidence-based care, and developing specialist knowledge within the oncology setting.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Care

  • Deliver the highest standards of safe, compassionate, and patient-centred care

  • Act as a mentor/preceptor to students and new staff

  • Support and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team

  • Take accountability for the holistic care of assigned patients

  • Promote patient safety, advocacy, dignity, and emotional support

  • Maintain excellent communication (verbal and written)

  • Uphold professional standards and NMBI guidelines

  • Contribute to digitalisation, service improvement, and innovation

  • Support unit leadership and service development initiatives

Quality, Audit & Governance

  • Participate in and support clinical audits and research

  • Promote evidence-based practice

  • Support accreditation and quality standards

  • Work closely with Quality & Patient Safety teams

Health & Safety

  • Maintain compliance with health, safety, infection control, and risk policies

  • Identify risks and follow incident reporting procedures

  • Ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors

Professional Practice & Leadership

  • Develop leadership skills (Shift Coordinator / Team Leader role)

  • Manage workload and ensure safe staffing levels

  • Safe administration and management of medications

  • Maintain professional development and CPD

  • Use clinical IT systems effectively

  • Maintain confidentiality and GDPR compliance


Essential Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with NMBI registration

  • Minimum 1 year post-registration oncology experience (essential)

  • Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD)

  • Strong communication, leadership, and teamwork skills
