Role Summary
The Patient Flow Department manages admissions and patient movement to ensure efficient use of beds and smooth care delivery from admission to discharge. The Patient Flow Manager works with multidisciplinary teams to balance scheduled and unscheduled care, optimise resources, and support safe, timely patient flow.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily admissions and bed management to maintain patient flow
- Monitor and communicate bed capacity and utilisation
- Analyse and forecast admission and discharge trends
- Work closely with nursing, operations, and clinical teams
- Support service planning, audits, and performance monitoring
- Allocate resources based on patient needs and staff capacity
- Lead planning meetings to optimise short-term and long-term capacity
- Support discharge processes and reduce length of stay
- Contribute to seasonal and strategic bed management planning
- Assist in budgeting, resource planning, and service development
- Support implementation of electronic bed management systems
