Are you an experienced oncology nurse ready to take the next step in your leadership career? This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality cancer care within a progressive and patient-focused Oncology Day Unit in Limerick.

We are seeking an exceptional Clinical Nurse Manager II (CNM2) to lead, inspire and support a dedicated nursing team while ensuring patients receive the highest standards of compassionate, evidence-based oncology care.


🌟 About the Role

As Clinical Nurse Manager II, you will be at the heart of service delivery—overseeing the daily coordination of the Oncology Day Unit while driving excellence in patient care, staff development and service improvement.

You will work closely with senior nurse management and the multidisciplinary team to ensure the unit operates efficiently, safely and in line with best practice standards.

🔑 Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred oncology care

  • Ensure care delivery follows evidence-based practice and professional standards

  • Oversee chemotherapy administration, CVAD management and complex oncology treatments

  • Monitor patient outcomes and ensure compliance with quality and safety frameworks

Team Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, mentor and support nursing and support staff

  • Allocate resources and staffing to meet patient care needs effectively

  • Conduct competency reviews and staff development processes

  • Promote teamwork, engagement and professional growth

Service Improvement & Innovation

  • Lead quality improvement initiatives and Lean projects

  • Participate in audits, policy development and accreditation processes

  • Support implementation of new practices, systems and clinical developments

Operational Management

  • Manage workload, staffing and resources within the unit

  • Monitor key performance indicators and develop action plans where required

  • Maintain clear communication with senior management regarding service needs


👩‍⚕️ About You

You are a confident clinical leader with a strong oncology background who enjoys mentoring others and driving improvements in patient care.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered or eligible for registration with NMBI

  • Postgraduate qualification in Oncology (or equivalent)

  • Management qualification

  • Minimum 4 years oncology experience

  • Minimum 2 years in a management role

  • Competence in chemotherapy administration and CVAD management

  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills

Desirable

  • Advanced Life Support certification (or willingness to obtain)

  • Experience in change management, service development and Lean methodologies


💰 Salary

€62,077 – €76,158 per annum
(based on a 37.5-hour week)
