Chemical Production & Laboratory Technician

This is a varied hands on role, combining laboratory analysis with chemical manufacturing and production support. The successful candidate will work across both laboratory and production facilities in a small chemical manufacturing company, contributing to product quality, process improvement and plant operations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Production Manager, you will support daily manufacturing activities while carrying out routine laboratory testing and quality control procedures. This role offers excellent exposure to water and wastewater treatment processes and would suit someone with a practical chemistry background who enjoys working in both laboratory and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day to day operation of the Manufacturing Process Unit.
- Manufacture chemical products in accordance with company procedures.
- Carry out quality control testing and product release checks.
- Perform routine laboratory testing of water and wastewater samples.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing and process issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Provide technical support on assigned production processes.
- Assist with plant maintenance and housekeeping.
- Maintain accurate laboratory and production records.
- Operate production equipment, including forklift and bobcat (training can be provided where required).
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental procedures at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Third level qualification in Industrial Chemistry, Environmental Science or a related scientific discipline.
- Practical chemistry qualification (Level 6 or above).
- Previous laboratory experience.
- Strong interest in water and wastewater treatment processes.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across multiple departments.
- Self-motivated with good organisational and problem-solving skills.
Desirable
- Experience within the water, wastewater or environmental industry.
- Previous manufacturing or chemical production experience.
- Forklift licence or willingness to undertake training.
- Knowledge of quality systems and laboratory procedures.
