Business Development Manager

Our client, a leading West of Ireland construction company - is seeking an experienced and commercially astute Business Development Manager to take up a newly created, strategic role within the organisation.

This opportunity will suit a professional Business Developer with a proven track record of identifying, developing and securing new business within the construction industry. The successful candidate will bring an established ledger of construction clients, strong market knowledge, and the credibility to influence both clients and internal stakeholders.

Working closely with senior leadership and client-facing teams, you will play a central role in shaping how new business opportunities are identified, prioritised and progressed from early market engagement through to tender stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, track and analyse market trends, sector activity and competitor movements to support strategic decision-making.

  • Develop and continually refine target client and sector strategies aligned with business growth objectives.

  • Own and optimise the CRM system, ensuring all leads, opportunities and client interactions are accurately recorded.

  • Drive CRM adoption across the business through training, guidance and best-practice processes.

  • Manage the full opportunity pipeline, from early project identification to tender submission.

  • Produce regular reports and insights for senior leadership on pipeline health, risks and opportunities.

  • Maintain and prioritise a live target list of key clients and strategic opportunities.

  • Proactively identify new business opportunities across relevant construction sectors.

  • Support the preparation of high-quality proposals, presentations and case studies.

About You

  • Demonstrable success in business development within the construction sector.

  • An established network and ledger of construction clients.

  • Proven ability to secure new business through strategic, relationship-led development.

  • Experience managing CRM systems and business development processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with confidence engaging at senior level.

  • Strong organisational and analytical capability, with high attention to detail.

  • Proactive, commercially focused and comfortable operating in a strategic support role.
