An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced Systems Engineer to join a high-performing technical team at a major cement manufacturing site in County Louth. This role suits a motivated professional with strong automation and control systems expertise who is keen to develop their career within a large industrial operation.

With a long-established manufacturing presence in Ireland and two advanced production facilities, this organisation uses modern, energy-efficient technology to supply high-quality products to domestic and international markets.


The Role

The Systems Engineer will provide specialist engineering support and take ownership of plant control systems.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as Network Owner for control system servers, software, and communications.

  • Managing the Siemens PCS7 system to ensure safe and efficient operations.

  • Designing and programming software for new projects and plant modifications.

  • Implementing software changes, troubleshooting issues, tuning PID loops, and supporting colleagues.

  • Commissioning systems and carrying out testing and signal checks.

  • Maintaining operator stations and visualisation software.

  • Coordinating software upgrades and patches.

  • Liaising with specialist control-system engineers.


Candidate Profile

  • Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or technical discipline.

  • 5+ years relevant industrial experience.

  • Strong PCS7, Step 7, Simatic Manager, and WinCC expertise.

  • Good knowledge of Windows systems, networking, and security.

  • PLC programming experience (CFC, FBD, STL).

  • Familiarity with SQL, high-level programming languages, and OT cybersecurity practices.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a practical mindset.
