Audit Director – Financial Services

About the Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Audit Director to join a well-established professional services firm with a strong presence in the financial services sector.
This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to lead a diverse portfolio of financial services clients, oversee complex audit engagements, and play a key role in developing client relationships and growing the firm's audit practice. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership while leading and developing high-performing audit teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of financial services audit engagements, including regulated entities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing a high standard of professional service.
- Lead the planning, execution and completion of audit assignments.
- Oversee audit teams, allocating resources effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Review audit work to ensure compliance with professional standards, regulatory requirements and internal quality procedures.
- Provide technical guidance on financial reporting and accounting matters.
- Manage multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining high-quality client service.
- Support business development initiatives and identify opportunities to expand client relationships.
- Mentor, coach and develop managers and audit team members.
- Contribute to the continued growth and success of the Audit & Assurance department.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Significant post-qualification experience within audit, ideally in financial services.
- Experience operating at Senior Manager or Director level within a professional services environment, or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS and current accounting standards.
- Experience leading complex audit engagements and managing multiple client relationships.
- Excellent project management and organisational skills.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities for business growth.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative leadership style with experience coaching and developing high-performing teams.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
