Company Overview
Our client is a leading wholesaler and retailer of agricultural and hardware supplies, serving farmers, trade customers and the wider rural community. We are now seeking an enthusiastic and customer‑focused Agri Trade Counter & On‑Farm Sales Representative to join our team on a full‑time basis.
Role Profile
Based in Navan, Co. Meath, this is a dual‑function role, split approximately 50/50 between trade counter / retail duties and on‑farm sales within Navan and the wider Meath area.
The successful candidate will work closely with local farmers and trade customers while also supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of our Agri & Hardware store. This is a varied, hands‑on position with scope for learning, development and progression.
We are open to considering recent graduates with the right attitude and interest in agriculture, as well as more experienced candidates, with salary adjusted accordingly.
Key Responsibilities
Trade Counter & Retail (Approx. 50%)
- Serve customers at the trade counter and over the phone in a friendly, professional manner
- Open and close the shop as required
- Develop strong product knowledge across our Agri, Equine and Hardware ranges
- Order, receive and merchandise stock
- Maintain high standards of store presentation and product availability
- Work in the shop floor and store yard when required
- Handle cash, card and cheque transactions and balance the till daily
- Product coding, pricing and price updates
- Support wider business administration including purchase orders and delivery dockets
On‑Farm Sales (Approx. 50%)
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local farmers in Navan and the wider Meath area
- Develop new farm accounts and grow existing relationships
- Identify customer needs and recommend suitable products
- Provide on‑farm technical support where appropriate
- Act as a trusted local contact for customers, representing our client professionally
Key Requirements
- Strong interest in agriculture; hands‑on farming / Agri background
- Friendly, reliable and willing to “get stuck in”
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage a varied workload
- Comfortable working in both a retail and field‑based sales role
- POS and computer systems experience (Herbst ERP desirable)
- Microsoft Office knowledge
- Clean full Irish driving licence (required)
- Forklift licence desirable
Working Hours
- Full‑time
- Monday to Saturday (flexible hours)
- No bank holidays
