The Opportunity

FRS Recruitment is working with an established and growing business within the forestry and land management sector to recruit an experienced Accountant.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Accountant to take ownership of the company's finance function in a standalone capacity, working closely with senior management and contributing to the ongoing development of the business.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for all aspects of financial management, reporting and compliance, offering a varied, hands-on role with significant responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and annual statutory financial statements.

• Providing accurate and timely financial reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.

• Monthly profit and loss analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.

• Budgeting, forecasting and monitoring sales, direct costs, cash flow and overheads.

• Preparation and oversight of monthly and annual work-in-progress (WIP) calculations.

• Management of Revenue returns, including VAT, PAYE, RCT, INTRASTAT and VIES.

• Overseeing payroll operations.

• Managing accounts payable, accounts receivable, debtors, creditors and treasury functions.

• Maintaining and reconciling grant debtor schedules.

• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and controls.

• Supporting the strategic growth and continued development of the business.

Requirements & Experience

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

• Approximately 5 years' post-qualification experience.

• Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience across the full finance function.

• Excellent IT skills and proficiency with financial systems.

• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and build effective relationships across the business.
