Sustainability Buyer- South Dublin

Job Overview

My client, a Global FMCG Retail Leader based in South Dublin, is in need of a Sustainability Buyer to join their fast paced and growing organisation.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Buyer with experience working in the FMCG sector and experience working in a Sustainable environment with Responsible Sourcing Experience. A Sustainable Buyer develops, manages, monitors and promotes responsible sourcing practices. Implements end to end supplier due diligence processes to promote responsible sourcing practices. The Sustainability Buyer will identify vendors that exhibit responsible practices and develop relationships with those vendors.

The duties for the desired Sustainability Buyer include:

  • Development and implementation of Responsible Sourcing policies and projects at a national level, enforcing Company requirements and monitoring internal KPI's.
  • Support the buyers in their decision-making regarding sustainability and ethical aspects of Company -brand products. Provide regular training in product sustainability and inform on consumer and market trends, competitor analysis and product innovations.
  • Execute Company Ethical Trading Programme and manage Ethical Trade Coordinator.
  • Drive the business packaging reduction targets along with Company internal Packaging Technologist.
  • Contribute to main company-wide strategic projects such as Climate Strategy and annual sustainability reporting.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders (NGOs, industry bodies and government) and collaborate in developing sector-wide solutions where appropriate.
  • Offer technical support our to Company Marketing and Communications teams in external communications.

The requirements for the desired Sustainability Buyer include but are not limited to:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role the field of CSR / Sustainability / Responsible Sourcing within a food retailer or FMCG market
  • A comprehensive, technical understanding of environmental and ethical raw materials/product certifications and 3rd party audit schemes is essential
  • Third-level degree is essential
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills
  • Independent, self-starter, ability to drive change
  • Experience in project management
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills
  • Open-minded and flexible
  • Full driving license is essential
