The Purchasing Manager will have responsibility to ensure security of supply on all products and services at best achievable cost through supplier development and management whilst meeting internal and external compliance and standards requirements. This role reports to the supply chain manager and manages two direct reports.

Key Accountabilities
Locally controlled material procurement to client specification at best cost

Delivery of cost reduction and cost avoidance programmes

Service and project procurement at best possible total cost of ownership

Certainty of product & services supply including risk identification & reduction

Supplier performance management & improvement

Internal controls compliance to best in class, with strong purchasing spend controls

Achieve cost reduction and cost avoidance targets

Manage raw material & finished goods supplier performance to ensure on time in full delivery to fulfil planned manufacturing & customer order requirements

Development and improvement of locally managed supply base to meet future requirements

Reduction of business risk through raw material dual sourcing and supply chain development

Management of supply shortage risks through negotiation and escalation

Management of capex and technical spend to achieve best cost

Provision and implementation of critical KPI's, to improve safety, environment, on time in full delivery, cost savings, cost avoidance, and customer experience

Development of purchasing team through coaching and focused training
Provision & management of material demand forecasts to key all suppliers

Are you the ideal candidate

Purchasing Degree or equivalent will be an advantage and Supply Chain or APICS certification desired with 7 years plus experience in a similar role.
Proven experience in a supply chain role, materials procurement or supply management strongly preferred.
Proven experience of working within a change environment.
Experience in ERP systems with SAP preferred
Project management skills; problem solving ability
Experience of WCM or equivalent lean management tools preferred
Excellent people and communication skills
Process and procedure driven; KPI and results driven
Customer orientated
