Procurement / Materials Manager

Job Overview

Our client based in the Kildare area currently have a job available for a Project Materials Manager / Procurement Manager. (Engineering / Construction Industry)

The project materials manager is required to ensure that the project teams have all the materials that they require on site and on time.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Liaise with engineers to ensure that all material requirements are on the PSR and that the delivery dates align with the project needs.
  • Check orders/requisitions to ensure orders are correct and there is no duplication or orders
  • Liaise with purchasing to ensure that each material type is being ordered and delivered according to requirements: Direct orders; consignments; corporate agreements etc
  • Work with the suppliers to ensure that materials are delivered
  • Manage the stores personnel to ensure that all stock levels are in place
  • Monitor current stock and keep a log what is sent to site
  • Plan deliveries to ensure stock is on site on time
  • Track deliveries coming from stores to site

Selection Criteria / Person Specification:

  • 3rd Level qualification
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role within construction / engineering
  • A demonstrated ability to negotiate with suppliers
  • A self starter who can work on own initiative
  • Computer literate
  • Experience using Purchasing software packages, SAP experience an advantage
