FRS Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Assistant Procurement Manager on behalf of an established & progressive agribusiness. This is a full-time permanent role with ongoing coaching and training.

My client has been serving the Irish agricultural trade for over 35 years. In that period of time they have become a market leader in animal nutrition & have expanded their business into Asia, Middle East , Africa & Europe. Their success can be attributed to their manufacturing facility which has pushed them to the forefront of animal nutrition in both domestic and international markets.

We are now looking to add an additional person to the procurement team. The newly created role of Assistant Procurement Manager will involve working closely with the Head of Purchasing and you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day duties of a busy purchasing department.

Duties to include

  • Placement of Supplier Purchase Orders.
  • Tracking of Purchase Orders for timely delivery.
  • Arrange collections of raw materials from UK & Europe.
  • Assisting with analysis & reports.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends.
  • Assist with negotiations & making recommendations.
  • Review the existing supply base to ensure the company is attaining best value for money, along with sourcing new suppliers.
  • Ensure supplier forecasting is maintained and managed on a consistent basis, providing visibility of long-term requirements to the supply base
  • Research alternative and best value raw materials with Quality Department where appropriate.
  • Work with Quality to ensure all quality specs are clear and to anticipate any regulatory changes that would impact supply.
  • Attend production meetings.
  • Stock management & project work.

Candidate profile

  • 3rd level Degree in Agriculture / Business or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 1 years buying experience a distinct advantage.
  • A knowledge of agriculture an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills with strong proficiency in Word, Excel & PowerPoint.
  • Ability to prioritise work & strong attention to detail
