Pricing Actuary /Trainee Actuary

Job Overview

Job Purpose
The Pricing Actuary /Trainee Actuary will be responsible for all actuarial pricing work within LPINS.
Although pricing is the main responsibility for this role, the person may also be involved in other
aspects of actuarial work as required. The role will report to the Head of Underwriting.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Developing models for pricing fleet motor fleet and ancillary business
- Assist the underwriting team with pricing recommendations and implementation of new
rating structures for existing and new business opportunities
- Analysing and reporting on trends and identifying profitable opportunities
- Assist the pricing function with reviews including a review of systems, review of pricing
policies and procedures in conjunction with the underwriting team
- Deliver a high-quality actuarial pricing service including externally to the LeasePlan
countries
- Provide actuarial assistance on internal projects and initiatives including assisting the
Analytics area on (inter alia) more granular investigations on claim trends and interacting
with the relevant stakeholders on mitigating actions and next steps as required.
- Assist in the preparation of information for the quarterly board meetings and group risk
management meetings
- Attend and complete IT Security training and any other LPINS/LeasePlan training as
required

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge
- Between one- and three-years' experience in an insurance actuarial environment preferably
with non-life experience
- Good pricing knowledge, ideally completion of or progression with SP8 (Pricing) and /or
knowledge of actuarial pricing software particularly proprietary packages (e.g. Emblem,
Earnix)
- Previous fleet motor and/or personal lines motor experience is desirable
- Ideally, some exposure to reserving including software packages used (e.g. ResQ)

deliver outcomes
- Ability to work on own initiative and willingness to take ownership of tasks
- Ability to prioritise work to deliver results within strict deadlines
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- Team player who can demonstrate good interpersonal skills and ability to work across
departmental and organisational lines
- Ability to communicate with international teams at all levels and communicate with a nonactuarial
audience
