National Account Manager - FMCG

Job Overview

In this National Account Management role, you will inherit a portfolio of accounts, all of which have superb growth potential. You will be working with some of the largest retailers in Ireland dealing with buyers and category managers.

As is the case with most National Account roles, this is a strategic position where you will be responsible for evaluating all sales and profit figures, forecasting, new product development, product reviews, and presenting to the clients at head office level.

You are highly organised, comfortable presenting at a senior level and analytic in your sales process. Ideally, you will come from a non-food category however this is not essential. You must have a solid track record of National Account Management and previous experience dealing with grocery retailers.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key Irish retail accounts to increase sales.

Ultimately, you should be able to facilitate communication with customers and build long-term relationships to achieve challenging business goals.

Objectives / responsibilities:

  • To manage & maximise Irish National Accounts.
  • Planning and executing pricing negotiations and terms discussions at a senior level
  • The achievement of budgeted sales and margin targets.
  • New product listings on time & in full.
  • Promotional planning in conjunction with marketing managers.
  • Product portfolio management.
  • Developing solid relations with relevant field sales personnel in order to deliver agreed business plans at local level.
  • Provide relevant reports for the field sales team to enable them to focus on key opportunities.
  • Lead cross functional teams to ensure total business is aligned behind key accounts
  • Maintain relationships with key stakeholders at each account
  • Promote and sell in of new products / developments
  • Ensure adequate stock cover of products and ability to meet / step change for customer demand
  • Appropriately managing sales promotions in a fair and equitable manner
  • Ability to close the deal

Who are You?

  • You have strong previous experience working retail or FMCG as senior account manager / senior buyer
  • Strategic Business/Customer thinking
  • A clear and effective communicator, both verbal and written
  • An ability to work collaboratively with both internal & external key stakeholders
  • Excellent sales & negotiation skills
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish FMCG industry & market trends
  • Planning & organisational skills with a high level of task prioritisation
  • High competence of all Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to multi-task whilst maintaining a strong attention to detail
  • Drive for results, with proactive problem-solving approach

The office is based in South Dublin but you will have the flexibility to work from home as required. The role will require frequent travel to meet with key customers and attendance at meetings both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
