Medical Secretary - Full time On-Site
Job Overview
We are currently recruiting a Medical Secretary to work in a very busy private practice for a Neurology and Respiratory Surgeon. We would require at least 3 years medical secretarial experience ideally having worked in a hospital or clinic setting.
Work Complexity
- Managing appointments and consultant's daily work schedule
- Managing patient clinics ensuring that all patient result are available
- Organizing admissions for patients if required and ensuring all documentation is completed ie. admission form, GDPR form, blood forms
- Ensuring patients are given relevant details with regard to admission and day care
- Responsible for incoming and outgoing mail, phone calls and emails
- Dictation typing of letters and discharge summaries
- Contacting patients and relevant departments to inform of consultant's absence
- Responsible for training of temporary secretary for holiday leave
Decision Making
- Patient care when consultant is abroad or absent
- Liaise with other medical doctors in consultant's absence
- Adhering to health and safety procedures in event of an emergency
Responsibility
- Ensuring the smooth running of a very busy clinical practice
- Responsible for payments from patients including visa/cash transactions, insurance forms and ensuring there are no outstanding accounts
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent communication and secretarial skills
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with patients who in most cases are extremely stressed
- As we aim to be a paperless office excellent IT skills are required
