Mechanical Design Engineer
Job Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer on behalf of our manufacturing client based in Co. Cavan.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the translation of customer expectations into profitable mechanical designs, as well as collaborating with various stakeholders to optimise production quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Translate customer expectations into viable mechanical designs that align with production capabilities.
- Create detailed drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for production and logistics purposes.
- Provide recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders based on design expertise.
- Collaborate closely with production teams to ensure high-quality output.
- Prepare costings, specifications, drawings, and technical details for customers.
- Direct and coordinate the manufacturing of prototypes.
- Liaise with the R&D department to identify and implement efficiency improvements.
- Optimise designs to meet customer specifications.
- Prepare clear instructions and drawings for use on the factory floor.
- Develop, control, and update technical and material specifications.
Requirements:
- Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Proficiency in design software packages such as CAD, ProE, etc.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Previous experience with SAP is desirable.
- Preferable experience in a manufacturing environment and familiarity with manufacturing best practices.
- Knowledge of internal standards and quality conformance metrics.
- Highly proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Willingness to work both on-site and travel for business purposes.
- Full clean driving license.
