My client is a market leading multi-national integrated manufacturer of automotive electronic systems for some of the world's largest car manufacturers. A multi-site operation the company have been in Cork for over 20 years and currently employ over 700 people across their Irish plants.

As Lead Maintenance Technician some of your key duties will include

  • Planning organising and co-ordinating work ensuring maximum utilisation of equipment and resources and achievement of goals.
  • Ensuring that the maintenance equipment and personnel in all cost centres is being utilised to its maximum efficiency.
  • Balancing your supervisor duties while continuing to carry out a hands-on maintenance role.
  • Ensuring that scheduled PMs are carried out and that all issues as a result are followed through.
  • Demonstrating initiative to improve equipment performance, changeover time, cost effectiveness, time wasting, scrap and PPM reduction.
  • Checking the type and accuracy of spares in stores for key equipment.
  • Resolving all outstanding housekeeping issues, maintain machine, as well as supervising the personnel on the weekend shift.

You will hold a Cert/Diploma in Engineering (Minimum NFQ Level 6) in Electronic/Electrical and have 2 years + hands on experience in a maintenance role in a similar type of manufacturing environment
You will have a mixture of both product & process experience and a good overall equipment knowledge

There is a salary ranging from the early 40's to early 50's along with pension, bonus and life assurance & 25% shift allowance. The company offers an excellent training and development programme and are very happy to support and fund degree and masters for their employees. You'll also get to work in the automotive sector which is currently going through a period of huge innovation and technological change. If you were interested in working abroad down the line my client has lots of sister facilities across Europe available for secondment if you'd like to work and do some travelling.

With regards to the shift the system works to 39 hours per week rotating from Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday to Thursday/Friday/Saturday every 4 week period.
Example : Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday - nights for 2 weeks and then days for 2 weeks. Thursday/Friday/Saturday - nights for 2 weeks and then days for 2 weeks.
The shift pattern allows for one week off approximately every 2 months as part of the changeover from Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday to Thursday/Friday/Saturday.
