Our Dublin based client is seeking a Head of QHSE to join their team. This company has approximately 1,500 employees and multiple client sites across ROI and NI. You will sit as part of the Senior Leadership team reporting directly to the Managing Director. Previous Multi-site experience will be a distinct advantage and/or experience from a large company of 500+ employees.

Some travel will be required in your role across Ireland to address site specific issues.

Key Duties:

  • As the Head of QHSE Ireland you will be responsible for shaping & implementing QHSE vision and driving a culture of safety.
  • Liaise effectively with the Senior Leadership Teams to ensure they are kept informed of all QHSE initiatives, updates or improvements.
  • Liaise with your UK QHSE colleagues to ensure we are aligned in terms of project plan delivery
  • Attendance at Leadership Team Meetings as required.
  • Communication with Leadership Teams on any significant incidents that require specific actions as well as any other significant incidents that have the potential for further risk to the business
  • Carry out all People Manager responsibilities effectively and with positive leadership behaviours.

Learning & Development responsibilities.

  • Promote a positive QHSE culture and demonstrate how proactive QHSE adds value to the business
  • Improve and maintain accreditation's to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
  • Deliver QHSE training modules and briefing material to staff and client staff, as required
  • Monitor and coordinate QHSE & Compliance related training across the portfolio
  • To provide competent advice, guidance, and support to operational teams to enable them to carry out their QHSE responsibilities.
  • Manage and support the wider HSE Team as required on advice and training.

Day to Day responsibilities.

  • Accident / incident investigation and reporting
  • Review of risk assessments, method statements, QHSE plans and Local Work Instructions, as required
  • Ongoing C.O.S.H.H assessments, control of hazardous substance
  • Undertake QHSE mobilisation of new contracts, as required
  • Reviewing service provision across all service streams to ensure compliance with clients QHSE standards
  • Create a QHSE Business partnership model between your team and Operations
  • To undertake reactive and proactive monitoring of HSE including incident investigation, audits, inspections and analysis of performance data.
  • Manage and support the wider HSE Team as required on advice and training.
  • To ensure the alignment of any sector specific QHSE plans to the business needs and sharing of best practice
  • Provide competent QHSE advice, guidance and support to managers across all sectors, obtaining specialist support when required.
  • Support the communication of important QHSE messages out to regional operational teams to help drive QHSE compliance
  • Investigate reactive incidents and enforcement action within a timely manner through the effective engagement of the operations teams and support functions such as legal and HR as required
  • Support the implementation of corporate QHSE initiatives across the region to improve operational compliance
  • Assist in the periodic program of monitoring and auditing of compliance with relevant Policies and Procedures
  • Engage with QHSE regulators in the event of likely enforcement action or disputes.
  • Manage all PIAB cases and associated responsibilities with our insurers.
  • Liaise with external 3rd parties such as clients and contractors with regards to the effective management of QHSE matters.

Key Qualification / Skills:

  • Relevant third level qualification in Health & Safety, Quality or related discipline.
  • Experience of managing the PSCS and PSDP function on behalf of appointed Companies.
  • A sound grasp of the practical implementation of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
  • The successful individual will work on our client sites across the Island of Ireland, therefore experience of UK/NI legislation is an advantage
