Financial Accountant - Ennis

Job Overview

I'm currently recruiting for a Financial Accountant to join a busy team in Ennis, co. Clare.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day items arising within the Finance Department while keeping the Finance Manager fully briefed. They will have a key role in creating a positive and supportive work environment within the Finance Department. The individual will complete their tasks, including those listed below, to the highest standard.

Main Duties:

Management accounts

  • Preparation / reporting of quarterly management accounts including:
  • Maintenance of monthly pay accounts packs
  • Calculation of quarterly accruals and prepayments
  • Invoicing
  • Preparation of quarterly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of annual projections
  • Ability to address variances in conjunction with Service Managers
  • Annual financial statements and external audit
  • Preparation of audit file and support the external audit process
  • Ensuring that all financial matters raised by the Auditors are followed up
  • Facilitation of internal audits and maintenance of compliance plan Budget and financial analysis
  • Review and strengthen systems of internal control, including documentation of systems
  • Develop and implement the services financial and accounting policies, procedures and processes

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Must have excellent MS office skills, particularly Excel and Word
  • Strong understanding of budget control
  • Willingness to assume significant responsibility, ownership and accountability
  • Ability to work on own initiative, as part of a team and as leader of a group
  • A 'can-do' approach with the ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines
  • Flexibility and adaptability with a logical approach to problem solving and sound judgement
  • Excellent attention to detail with an emphasis on quality output
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Interpersonal skills that enable you to work with people at all levels
  • Written and spoken communication skills that allow you to inform and advise others clearly
  • Full, clean driving licence
